Officer Kristopher John Bieger opened fire on one of his own then orders pizza as an alibi

Officer Kristopher John Bieger opened fire on his own colleague Saturday night, while she was sitting in her marked car in plain sight doing an off duty detail at Inverness Plaza, near Northwest 56th Avenue and West Oakland Park Boulevard.

After shooting at the police cruiser several times, Officer Bieger, in his Dodge Silverado pick up truck proceeded to drive south, approximately 16 miles to the Regency Square Plaza in Davie, where he walked into Donato’s Ristorante and ordered two slices of pizza.

Bieger was easily noticeable, entering Donato’s nervous, talking loud on his cell phone, agitated and pacing back and forth as he waited outside of Donato’s, as it was only one other customer inside the restaurant who was already in the midst of eating his calzone. He probably would have gone un-noticed were it not for the fact that he immediately appeared suspicious and could not wait for only two slices of pizza, talking loud, animated and pacing. The waitress had to go outside to inform Bieger that his pizza was ready.

Bieger used a street revolver to commit his drive-by, rather than his service revolver, which would have been easily traceable back to him. The police quickly traced Bieger to the pizza shop, whereby they called and advised the owner to lock the entry door to the shop and quickly escort everyone including the only customer inside to the back and find a safe hiding place.

The police entered the shop from the back heavily armed and ready for a gun battle if necessary. However, Bieger surrendered without incident. The female colleague, who was targeted, remarkably, was not hurt.

Bieger is currently sitting in the Broward Main Jail charged with attempted first-degree murder and discharging a firearm from a vehicle, according to Lauderhill Police Capt. Constance Stanley. On the force since October 2006, Officer Kristopher John Bieger has been suspended without pay.

This is an ongoing investigation and no other details are known at this time.
