18-month old Dominicue Andrews: Dies at Jomiba Learning Center in Homestead, FL

***18-month old Dominicue Andrews dies at daycare center***

Eli Lovo, 29 was at the Wells Fargo Bank Branch across the street when he heard a scream come from the daycare center. He looked over an immediately recognize both the daycare worker and the driver of the van. From observation, it appeared that the little boy had been moved, he said. “One of the daycare staff threw an empty bottle at the driver and shouted “How could you do this? How could you do this?’ said Lovo.

Because this is an active investigation, police were unable to confirm Eli Lovo’s account of the events.

Hopefully, the site where the body was discovered will be preserved and the chain of custody as it relates to the evidence will not be broken.
Time Line:
7:35 a.m. – Little Dominicue was picked up by the daycare driver, his grandmother said.
8:00 a.m. – Fabian Hall, Dominicue’s uncle remembered seeing him at the center when he dropped off his own two kids.
3:00 p.m. – Fabian Hall received a call from the daycare center, asking if he had picked up his nephew.

What was the purpose of that call? The daycare center worker already knew that little Dominicue was dead! Why did she then tell Hall after he informed her that, “No” he didn’t pick up his nephew to “Come Over!” rather than “We can’t find Dominicue!” Or “he is missing!” if she didn’t already know that he was dead?

Even as Hall rushed to the daycare center, he couldn’t understand what was going on. After arriving at the center, he heard that his nephew had died. He said that he didn’t believe it, until he saw the family’s pastor arrive at the center.

After hearing the news, Dominicue’s father, Rashaad Easterly, 17, drove down from Miami, and stood in shock outside the center where other family members had gathered, remembering the good times he had in the short life of his son. Little Dominicue lived with his mother and grandmother at the time of his death.

Jomiba Learning Center, located at 1005 N. Krome Ave., has been open for less than a year and is owned by Misael Ramos. According to a recent inspection, dated June 7, 2011, the facility was cited once for noncompliance for not having the proper paperwork for all the child-care personnel. The report also states that the center serves 66 children and has nine staff members.
