Frank Taaffe & George Zimmerman: Both Crime Watch Captains with similar Previous Criminal History

Frank Taaffe aka Francis Bruce Taaffe and George Zimmerman are both previous crime watch captains for The Retreat of Twin Lakes community in Sanford with similar past criminal history. No wonder they are best friends. “Birds of a feather flock together, Like honeybees!, that’s what they say and apparently that statement certainly rings true here.

It would be interesting to ask the Sanford police officer who monitors the crime watch program in their area, “Exactly what are you telling the people to make them think that they are above the law?”

Former crime watch captain Frank Taaffe aka Francis Bruce Taaffe has quite an interesting arrest history including:

1999 – Violating An Injunction For Protection Against Domestic Violence Victim.

1997 – Charged with Battery on Unknown Party {this is the friend that Zimmerman got into trouble with the policeman over}

14 Shot, 2 died in drive-by shooting outside Funeraria Latina Emanuel, 14300 W. Dixie Highway in Miami, Florida

As more than 100 mourners made their way outside of the chapel of Funeraria Latina Emanuel located at 14300 West Dixie Highway, a car drove by and at least one person inside the vehicle fired what is believed to be a high-powered weapon into the crowd, randomly shooting and hitting 14 victims, including a 5-year-old in the leg. Killing one victim at the scene and another died shortly at Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Center.

The mourners were attending the funeral for Marvin Andre, 22, of North Miami, killed in an earlier shooting. Pastor A.D. Lenoir, who officiated the funeral for Marvin Andre was making his way out of the chapel toward the crowd, when he heard rapid gun shots, screams, crying and yelling coming from the front of the chapel. He quickly ran outside and told the crowd to look for cover. “It was total chaos” said Lenoir.

Lenoir further stated that “after delivering such a moving and stirring message to the mourners one minute and then to witness what happened the next minute pains my heart.”

After the chaos settled, one person succumbed to their injuries on the scene, while another died shortly at Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Center. While some of the victims were transported to Jackson, others went to area hospitals.

Miami-Dade police cordoned the funeral home and surrounding crime scene with yellow tape while the investigation continues.

Unfortunately, the West Dixie Highway corridor is no stranger to violence. There have been several drive-by shootings in the area that have proved fatal.

In the meantime, police are looking for a white 2006 or 2009 Pontiac or Impala with dark tints, occupied by six male subjects.

Please call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at (305) 471-TIPS, if you have any information on this shooting. Remember, you don’t have to give your name, you can remain anonymous.
