Help Wanted: But not if you’re unemployed says Selena Forte!

No, it’s not a typo. Have you read the classified ads lately? If not, start browsing through your local classified section and you will more than likely stumble upon an ad that reads something like this:

Any company, USA looking to fill a vacant position immediately.
Please fax your résumé to:
Human Resources

*All applicants unemployed for six months or longer need not apply.

This is not a mistake! It’s not a typo, but rather a company indiscriminately but boldly stating that if you are one of the unfortunate among the millions looking for employment and have been unemployed for six months or longer, don’t waste your time or your money seeking employment with this company.

Why? You might ask if a company would be so bold to post a vacant position and then proceed to discriminate against you because you didn’t give up and is still looking for employment in spite of the odds against you, will they openly make the stipulation about the length in time between employments.

What is the companies’ perception of a prospective employee who has been unemployed for six months or more? Is it that they think that the prospective employee has forgotten how to perform in a work environment even though they may have spent the last 10, 20 perhaps 30 years at their last place of employment.

Selena Forte, 55, is alleging that the above scenario is exactly what happened to her. Unfortunately, it is safe to say that that she is not the first person that this has happened too, but the first who have stepped front and center and cried “Foul Play!”

Forte said that the recruiter advised her, that “her résumé was deemed ineligible because the length of time between the last employers too now, is six months are longer.”

So, in addition too race, nationality, gender, educational background, age, [tagged “aging” if you’re 40+] language, credit rating, current home location and the sheer number of unemployed or under employed competing for the same job, you now have to add the “length of unemployment” as a criteria for possible employment. “Please say it isn’t so … or is it?”

It would be interesting to get some feed back from others, who have found themselves in the same or similar situation. “We can’t address a problem unless we know a problem exists!”

If you are still seeking employment and it’s been six months or longer, “don’t give up!” Your Blessing is on the way!” Hang in there! God Has Not Forgotten You! Good Luck and May Many Blessings Come Your Way!!!

Are the citizens of these United States reaching their boiling point?

As the country continues to take a free fall, using the middle class and the working poor as collateral damage, Wall Street continues to make billions off the backs of the unsuspecting owners of bad loans, home or otherwise, America finds itself at the crossroads of utter destruction.

How many more of the unemployed and the under-employed workers will have to lose their homes to foreclosure? How many more career employees will be displaced from their jobs within a couple years shy of their full retirement? How many more resumes will be submitted before a desperate worker receive just an invitation to be interviewed?

How long can 15 million workers remain unemployed without something catastrophe happening because they think that there is no hope for a job in the foreseeable future?

How long can a country run on auto-pilot before it tumbles and fall? Who are the people that are suppose to keep these United States on track, financially and otherwise? Why aren’t they held accountable for the mess that this country finds itself in?

The crime rate from state to state is at an all time high and climbing? Why are there more robberies in the broad daylight and suspects willing to shoot anyone that tries to stand between them and their ill-gotten loot? Why has crime increased 300 percent against churches and the elderly?

Why is it reported that things are improving, when you don’t know a single unemployed person who has been hired within the last six months? Why do you feel like screaming to the top of your lungs, when yet another politician tells you that “they’re working on a plan to put America back to work?”

How many more lies will be regurgitated over and over again until the public realize that they have been bamboozled? How much longer will the people remain calm before they take to the streets and demand accountability for this colossal nightmare that most American’s find themselves in?

Everywhere you go … you sense a spirit of desperation and every corner you turn, you see fear in everybody’s eyes! Unless something is done soon to turn this economy around, America will implode onto itself and there will be no winners!!! The people are desperate and “they need help now… not later!”

On the Mark … Get Set … Ready … Go! … Start your FY 2012 – 2013 Budget!!!

To all the presidents of various unions respresenting employees, city, county, state and federal budget directors: Start your 2012-2013 Budget Now!

This is the second year in a row that the unions and various, city, county, state and federal entities had to concede to deep budget cuts. Let this serve as a lesson moving forward.

The days of ole, whereby everyone got what they wanted with little or no fanfare is over. The state of the economy in these United States is bleak at best and the present financial situation that most states find them selves in are here to stay for the foreseeable future.

It’s hard to rationalize or come to terms with the fact that today is as good as its going to get in terms of the financial stability of many governmental or state agencies. As tough as it will be mentally to accept, and it will be tough! you have to begin too take a hard look at your bottom line right now, today, and fine tune it so that there are no line items to question next fiscal year and yet have a list of possible cuts in place as a back-up plan should you need to reduce your budget and/or staff.

With more than 15 million job seekers still unemployed or underemployed, it would not be a hard stretch too say that things still could get a lot worse before it gets better. Remember, if you don’t offer solutions to resolving deficit shortfalls in your department, then that decision will be made for you.

Forget about the way things use to be and accept the way things are! As Suze Ormon so eloquently repeats again and again in her seminars, “Each one of us … Must stand in our own truth!” And the truth is every department is holding on to their employees by a “Wing and a Prayer!” But reality dictates that no matter how much you streamline and justify the bottom line, eventually, unless you receive an infusion of funds, you will have to displace some employees from their current positions.

If you are a director and you see that displacing employees is no longer a concept but will be a reality, advise that employee as soon as possible, so that the employee is able to restructure their finances to accommodate the loss of income.

Allow the employee to leave with dignity and a plan in place rather than tell everyone but the employee that they are going to be dismissed. The employees left behind will have a greater respect for you as a person and as a superior; otherwise the director comes across as a “spineless jellyfish” who hid behind the guise of “I had to release you because of the budget!” If you want respect, then you need to proceed respectfully! “Here’s hoping you make wise and unbiased decisions as you tackle the budget all over again.”

We’re drowning in debt and joblessness along with the other ills that come with it, but don’t worry America; the solution is too continuously report negatively about President Obama every chance we get and things are sure to change.

The magnitude of ignorance is astounding as I witness reporter after reporter smiling as though they just won the lottery, reporting that the President is on a losing streak on his trip abroad. They report as though they live in a different country. Who do they think are the real losers?

It’s not President Obama but rather the citizens that will feel the effects of a win or lose situation from this trip. The President went on a trip to try to create more jobs for the 17 million and counting citizens currently unemployed. President Obama is not unemployed, so this is not a self serving trip but rather an opportunity to meet one on one with the powers-that-be, which have the ability to create thousands of jobs for Americans.

America! You better wake up! And become thinkers rather than followers of your own destiny. If someone purports to do better without showing you a realistic, sustainable, workable plan, don’t fall for the rhetoric. America needs all the thinkers and doers they can get, citizens as well as politicians. The time to point the finger, has long since past. America needs common sense doable plans of action to get this country back on course.

No one party will be responsible for America’s turn around. It’s going to take the positive efforts, going in the same direction of all who currently reside in the United States to turn our economic system around. The minds of the politicians and its constituents will have to be expanded and their “arrogance of power” will have to be checked at the door and “what is in the best interest of this country”, should be front and center!

For all the pundits that say “We can do better!” Show me, in black and white, plain simple English not more political mambo jumbo, specifics that tell me exactly what, when, where, and how your plan will put America back to work now not in 10 years from now.

Please don’t tell me that we are going to repeal everything! Tell me what you are going to do for all the constituents that put their trust in you too do better. Repeal means more of the same…Voters elected you for change.

Now that you have been elected, Politicians! What are you going to do for the people?

“What does it profit a man to win an election but lose his soul in the process?”
